How to calculate a percentage
To find X% of an amount, multiply the amount by X and divide by 100. For example, 15% of 200 is 200 × 15 ÷ 100 = 30. To find what percentage an amount is of a total, divide the part by the total and multiply by 100.
Percentage change compares a starting value with a final one: (final − start) ÷ start × 100. It is the formula used for price rises, discounts, sales growth or inflation figures.
