Writing amounts in words correctly
On contracts, cheques and official documents it is common to write amounts in words as well as figures, to prevent tampering and errors. In English, numbers below a hundred use a hyphen (twenty-one, ninety-nine), "hundred" and "thousand" stay singular as units (two hundred, three thousand), and the word "and" is reserved here to separate the whole amount from the cents.
The currency mode produces the classic invoice wording: "one thousand two hundred thirty-four euros and fifty-six cents". The first letter is capitalised so you can paste it straight at the start of a line.
