Convert image formats
Turn an image from WebP to JPG, from PNG to JPG, or any combination of JPG, PNG and WebP. The conversion happens in your browser, without uploading the file anywhere.
The iPhone HEIC format cannot be read by browsers; convert it first on the phone itself (Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible).
When to use each format
JPG is the universal standard for photographs: any program opens it and it is lightweight, although it has no transparency. PNG preserves transparency and is ideal for logos and screenshots with text. WebP compresses better than both and dominates the modern web, but some older programs still can't open it, which is why "convert WebP to JPG" is one of the most searched-for conversions.
The conversion is done by redrawing the image in your browser, without uploading the file to any server. When converting to JPG, transparent areas are filled with a white background, since the format does not support transparency.
