Enter your weight and height to get your body mass index and the WHO reference category. It is a rough indicator: to assess your health, always consult a healthcare professional.

BMI is calculated as weight ÷ height² (kg/m²).

What BMI is and how to read it

The body mass index relates weight to height with the formula weight ÷ height². The WHO uses these general ranges for adults as a reference: below 18.5; 18.5 to 24.9 (healthy weight); 25 to 29.9 (overweight); and 30 or more (obesity).

BMI is only a statistical screening indicator: it does not distinguish muscle from fat, nor account for age, sex or build. Very muscular people can have a high BMI while being in great shape. For any assessment of your weight or health, see a doctor or registered dietitian.
